In a move to boost tourism and entertainment options in the capital, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has approved consultancy services for three major recreational projects: a theme park, a Ferris wheel, and a cable car service.

The decision was made during the 75th meeting of the Development Working Party (DWP), where PC-II proposals for feasibility studies and detailed designs were sanctioned.

💡 Project Highlights:

  • Theme Park:
    Feasibility and design consultancy approved at a cost of Rs206 million.

  • Ferris Wheel:
    Design and feasibility services to cost Rs61.8 million. The Ferris wheel, dubbed the “Islamabad Eye,” is planned to be Pakistan’s largest, standing approximately 180 feet tall, and will be installed at “Lake View Park” .

  • Cable Car Service:
    Consultancy approved with an estimated cost of Rs197.76 million. This project aims to connect Daman-e-Koh to Saidpur Village, providing panoramic views of the Margalla Hills and enhancing the city’s appeal to tourists.

With Islamabad’s population now exceeding two million, officials emphasized the growing need for quality recreational facilities. Already a popular tourist destination, the city aims to further enhance its appeal through these landmark attractions.

According to CDA officials, feasibility studies and designs are expected to be completed within six months.
